Fellowship of the Ring – Part 2 on MS-DOS is one of those old-school RPGs that somehow makes blocky sprites feel like an entire world. You’re dropped right back into Middle-earth after the first game, wandering through Moria’s shadowy halls or Lothlórien’s glowing trees—all rendered in that charmingly chunky '90s style. Combat’s turn-based, so you’ve got time to panic when an orc pack ambushes you, and the writing leans hard into Tolkien’s lore, which is a nice change from some of the glossed-over stuff in later adaptations.

It’s janky by today’s standards, sure, but there’s a real warmth to it—like flipping through a well-worn book. Just don’t expect hand-holding. The Balrog still looks like a pile of angry pixels, and it will absolutely wreck you if you’re not careful. Perfect for when you’re craving that specific mix of nostalgia and frustration.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
