Game Overview

FIFA 98 on the SNES is that perfect mix of janky and joyful—players move like they’re on ice half the time, but somehow that just makes sliding tackles even more satisfying. The pixelated crowds in the background barely react to anything, but when you nail a long-range shot with that weird, floaty ball physics, it still feels like a big deal. And yeah, the soundtrack absolutely slaps—Chumbawamba’s "Tubthumping" plays during menus like it’s 1997 all over again.

It’s not exactly tactical—just sprint down the wing, spam crosses, and hope your striker connects with a comically exaggerated bicycle kick. But that’s the fun of it. The World Cup mode lets you take obscure teams all the way (Iceland ’98 dream run, anyone?), and the kits are hilariously low-res but weirdly accurate. Perfect for when you want soccer without the fuss of modern sims.

Just don’t expect replays or fancy animations—this is pure, chaotic SNES-era football at its best.
