Game Overview

Okay, so The Flintstones: The Treasure of Sierra Madrock is one of those SNES games that somehow slipped under the radar—which is a shame, because it’s way more fun than it has any right to be. You’re basically Fred and Barney bumbling through caves, riding dinosaurs (because of course), and smacking cavemen with clubs while hunting for treasure. It’s got that goofy Flintstones vibe down perfectly, right down to Barney getting stuck in tight spots and Fred’s terrible ideas backfiring.

The levels are surprisingly varied—one minute you’re hopping across floating rocks, the next you’re chucking boulders at woolly mammoths. And yeah, there’s a level where you ride a pterodactyl, because why not? The puzzles aren’t brain-melters, but they’re just tricky enough to make you feel clever when you figure them out. Also, Wilma and Betty show up to yell at you if you take too long, which is a nice (and very on-brand) touch.

Honestly, it’s the little things—like the way Fred yells “Yabba dabba—OW!” when he falls—that make this feel like a lost episode of the show. If you’re into retro platformers with personality, this one’s a blast.
