Game Overview

Frog Pond on the Atari 2600 is one of those games that sneaks up on you—it looks simple, but before long, you're hunched over the joystick, muttering at the screen. You play as a tiny frog hopping between lily pads while dodging snakes, turtles, and whatever else the pond throws at you. The controls are straightforward (just hop left, right, up, or down), but the timing gets brutal fast.

What I love is how chaotic it feels despite the basic graphics. The predators move in weird patterns, so you can't just memorize a path—you've gotta react. And that chunky Atari sound design? The bloops when you hop, the little "uh-oh" noise when something gets you? Perfect.

It’s like Frogger if Frogger had fewer cars and more personality. If you’ve got a soft spot for retro games that don’t overcomplicate things, this one’s a blast. Just don’t blame me when you lose track of time trying to beat your high score.
