Game Overview

Game Boy Wars 3 is one of those hidden gems that never made it outside Japan, which is a shame because it’s a solid little turn-based strategy game for the Game Boy Color. If you’ve played Advance Wars, this feels like its scrappier, pixelated cousin—same basic idea, but with that classic GBC charm.

You start off moving tiny tanks and infantry across grid-based maps, capturing cities for cash and trying to outmaneuver the enemy. The sprites are simple but surprisingly expressive—watching your little units blow up never gets old. It’s got that "just one more turn" hook, though the AI can be brutal if you’re not careful with positioning.

Definitely worth digging up if you’re into retro strategy games and don’t mind the language barrier. The menus are mostly icons anyway, so it’s not too hard to figure out.
