Play Grand Theft Auto (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es,It) Online

Steal cars in a pixelated Liberty City, weaving through tiny streets while cops chase you—it’s janky but weirdly addictive once you get the hang of it. Missions are quick, but you’ll probably just rampage instead.

Game Overview

I picked up Grand Theft Auto for the Game Boy Color back in 1999, a portable version of Rockstar's open world crime game. It was a time when handhelds were just starting to offer console-like experiences, and this one tried to squeeze a lot into that tiny cartridge. The game came out in multiple European languages, which was pretty neat if you wanted to brush up on your French or German while causing chaos.

You play as a small-time criminal trying to climb the ranks in Liberty City. The main goal is to complete missions for various crime bosses, earning money and respect along the way. You steal cars, run over pedestrians, and evade the police, all on a screen by screen map that scrolls as you move. Missions are short and often involve driving from point A to point B, though the loose controls and aggressive cops make even simple trips tense. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially when your wanted level rises. Despite its rough edges, there's a strange satisfaction in pulling off a clean getaway or finally beating a mission that's given you trouble.
