Game Overview

Great Battle IV came out on the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Banpresto. It was part of a crossover series mashing up Gundam, Kamen Rider, and Ultraman, which was a fun concept for fans at the time, even if the text was all in Japanese.

You pick one of the three heroes and run through side-scrolling levels, shooting or punching waves of enemies. The goal is to reach the end of each stage, fighting screen-filling bosses along the way. You collect power-ups to improve your weapons, and the action is fast and crowded, with a lot happening on screen at once. It can get pretty tough, especially when the screen fills up with enemy shots, but it feels satisfying to blast through the chaos.
