Game Overview
Heroes of Might and Magic on Game Boy Color is basically the granddad of all those fantasy strategy games you love now. You start by picking a hero—knight, sorceress, barbarian—and then it’s all about exploring this pixelated map, grabbing resources, and building up your army of dragons, griffins, and other creatures. The turn-based combat feels surprisingly deep for a handheld game, with terrain and unit placement actually mattering.
It’s got that classic 90s PC strategy vibe squeezed into a tiny cartridge. The first time I played, I got wrecked because I didn’t realize how important it was to scout early—those neutral monsters don’t mess around. The music’s weirdly catchy too, in that chiptune way. If you like slow-burn tactics with a fantasy twist, this one holds up better than you’d expect.
