Play Hexen: Beyond Heretic Online
Pick your class and start swinging axes or slinging spells—every choice changes how you fight. The levels twist back on themselves with puzzles that make you rethink the whole dungeon.

Game Overview
Hexen: Beyond Heretic is one of those old-school FPS games where you actually have to think between blasting monsters. Right off the bat, you pick between three classes—Fighter, Cleric, or Mage—and they actually feel different. The Fighter swings a giant axe like it’s nothing and charges into fights, while the Mage hangs back with spells that light up the screen (but dies if something sneezes on him). Cleric’s the weird middle child with holy magic and a mace, which somehow works.
Instead of just running through levels, you’re constantly backtracking through these interconnected hubs to solve puzzles. Like, you’ll find a switch in one area that opens a door three levels back, and suddenly the whole place clicks together. It’s kinda janky by today’s standards, but there’s something satisfying about figuring it out without a quest marker pointing the way.
Oh, and the weapons? Each class gets their own upgrades, so that fireball you picked up as a Mage turns into a screen-filling explosion, while the Cleric uses the same item to summon a ghostly hammer. Little details like that make replaying as a different class actually worth it.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
