Game Overview

Hockey League Simulator came out in 1985 from Bethesda Softworks as part of their MS-DOS Classic Games series. It was a text and menu driven sports management sim for a time when detailed graphics weren't the expectation; you managed a hockey franchise entirely through numbers and decision making.

You control the general manager of a hockey team, handling everything from drafting players and setting line combinations to managing finances and scheduling practices. The main objective is to build a championship caliber team over multiple seasons. Signature mechanics include simulating games play by play through text descriptions, negotiating player contracts with a limited budget, and scouting new talent based on generated statistical profiles. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, and a poor trade or an injured star can derail a season quickly. It feels like running a real business where every choice has lasting consequences.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
