I picked up How to Train Your Dragon for the Nintendo DS back in 2010, a game published by Activision. It was one of those tie-ins that felt right at home on the handheld, a time when movie games were everywhere and the DS library was packed with all sorts of adventures. This one caught my eye because it let you step right into that world of Vikings and dragons, which was a nice change of pace from the usual platformers.

You play as Hiccup, and the main goal is to train your dragon, build trust, and eventually take on bigger threats. The gameplay mixes exploration across different island screens with combat using a bow or sword. You spend a lot of time completing missions, gathering items, and engaging in dragon flight sequences that require careful timing. The pacing is fairly steady, though some of the dragon training minigames can get repetitive if you're not into that. It's not overly difficult, but it does ask for patience, especially when mastering the flight controls. Overall, it feels like a solid, hands-on adventure that really makes you work for that bond with your dragon.
