If you ever wanted to feel like a proper Viking dragon trainer, this DS game actually gets pretty close. You start off picking your dragon—I went with the classic Night Fury, obviously—and then it’s all about figuring out how to fly, fight, and not crash into cliffs (which happens more than I’d like to admit).

The battles are chaotic in the best way, with fireballs and tail spins flying everywhere, and the little minigames for training your dragon are just the right mix of silly and satisfying. The world’s split into different islands, so there’s always something new to poke at—though good luck getting your dragon to listen every time.

It’s got that janky DS charm, but if you loved the movies, it’s a solid way to waste an afternoon pretending you’re Hiccup.
