I picked up How to Train Your Dragon for the Nintendo DS back in 2010, a game published by Activision. It was a solid time for licensed games on the handheld, and this one fit right in, offering a decent adventure based on the movie without trying to reinvent the wheel. It felt like a standard but competent effort for its time, the kind of game you'd play through over a weekend.

You control Hiccup, and the main goal is to train your dragon, Toothless, by completing various missions across the island of Berk. The gameplay involves a mix of on-foot exploration, using a sword for basic combat, and flying sequences where you guide Toothless through obstacle courses and shoot targets with his plasma blasts. You also collect coins and dragon scales to upgrade your gear and your dragon's abilities. The pacing is fairly straightforward, and the difficulty is manageable, though some of the flying levels require precise timing. It feels satisfying to see Toothless become more powerful as you progress together.
