Game Overview

Hugo 2 1-2 (Germany) is one of those weird little Game Boy Color titles that somehow sticks with you. You play as Hugo, the troll from that old European kids' show, bouncing through levels to save his family from a witch. It's got this janky charm—some parts feel rushed, but the mix of platforming, puzzles, and mini-games keeps it interesting.

The controls take a minute to get used to (Hugo slides around like he's on ice sometimes), but once you adjust, there's something oddly satisfying about the way it throws random obstacles at you. One second you're dodging falling rocks, the next you're playing a memory game against a gnome. It's very '90s Euro-kids-TV energy—bright colors, silly sound effects, and just the right amount of frustration.

Not gonna lie, it's not the most polished game ever, but if you grew up with Hugo or just love obscure handheld oddities, this one's got personality. I keep coming back to it when I want something short and nostalgic.
