Game Overview

In Search of Dr. Riptide is this weirdly charming MS-DOS action-platformer where you play as Nick, a guy trying to stop a mad scientist from blending the ocean into protein shakes. Yeah, it’s as ridiculous as it sounds. You’re swimming through caves, dodging fireball-spitting crabs (because why not?), and fighting giant bionic fish named Oscar—who, honestly, looks like someone welded a toaster to a tuna.

The levels flip between natural reefs and these ancient Atlantis ruins that somehow have Greco-Roman pillars underwater. You’re constantly scavenging for oxygen tanks and coins while avoiding sharks and, for some reason, hostile tulips? The final showdown is against Dr. Riptide himself, who’s piloting a submarine that looks like it was built from scrap metal and pure evil. Beat him, and Nick drags the whole thing to the cops like a weird aquatic tow truck.

It’s janky, it’s got that old-school "what were they thinking?" energy, and the controls take some getting used to—but there’s something weirdly fun about it. Just don’t expect the plot to make sense.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
