In Search of Dr. Riptide came out in 1994 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, published by Apogee Software. It was a time when shareware titles often offered quirky, self-contained adventures, and this one fit right in with its underwater theme and offbeat sense of humor.

You control a diver navigating maze-like ocean floors, screen by screen, searching for pieces of a device to stop the villain. The game mixes exploration with action; you dodge enemy attacks, collect power-ups like speed boosts and shields, and solve simple puzzles to progress. The pacing is brisk but the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially when dealing with tight spaces or aggressive foes. It feels like a brisk, slightly chaotic swim through a cartoon sea full of surprises.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
