The Itchy & Scratchy Game came out for the Super Nintendo in 1995, published by Acclaim Entertainment. It was one of those licensed games that showed up a lot on the SNES, especially for cartoon properties, and it tried to capture the violent slapstick of the TV show in a playable form.
You control Itchy through a series of side-scrolling levels, each ending with a fight against Scratchy. The goal is to beat Scratchy using whatever weapons you find, like mallets, bombs, or axes, while avoiding his attacks. The game is fast and chaotic, with Scratchy often getting cheap hits in, and the levels themselves are filled with minor enemies and obstacles. It feels frantic and a little unfair, but there's a strange satisfaction in finally taking Scratchy down after a few tries.
