Game Overview
Joe & Mac is one of those weird, goofy SNES platformers that somehow works. You play as these two cavemen who fight dinosaurs, throw boomerangs, and rescue cavewomen—because of course that’s the plot. The levels are bright and chaotic, with waterfalls, volcanoes, and these weird little pterodactyls that never stop being annoying.
At first, I thought it was just another generic platformer, but there’s something oddly satisfying about clubbing enemies with a giant bone or riding a dinosaur through a level. The controls are a little stiff, but once you get used to it, the game has this dumb charm. Also, the music is way catchier than it has any right to be.
It’s not perfect, but if you’re into old-school games with a silly sense of humor, this one’s worth a few hours of your time.
