Game Overview
Joe & Mac is one of those weird, goofy SNES platformers that somehow works. You play as a pair of cavemen (who are also, for some reason, ninjas?) running and jumping through bright, cartoony prehistoric levels. The controls feel a little stiff at first, but once you get used to the way they throw their bone clubs and dino-riding sections, it clicks.
What really sticks with me are the bizarre power-ups—like turning into a hulking caveman version of the Hulk for a few seconds. And yeah, there are "cave babes" to rescue, because of course there are. It’s very much a product of its time, but in a way that makes it oddly charming now. The music’s catchy too, in that early 90s SNES way.
It’s not the deepest game, but it’s got personality for days. Just don’t expect anything groundbreaking.
