Pilot a Harrier jump jet, complete missions by destroying targets, rescuing hostages, and navigating tight spaces with vertical landings in this 1992 action flight sim.
Jump Jet came out in 1992 for MS-DOS, developed and published by MicroProse. It was one of those games that felt right at home in an era when flight sims and action titles were pushing the limits of what PCs could handle, offering a mix of strategy and arcade-style reflexes without leaning too hard into either extreme.
You pilot a Harrier jump jet, completing missions that involve destroying enemy targets, rescuing hostages, and securing landing zones. The core mechanics are built around the Harrier's unique ability to hover and land vertically, which you'll use to navigate tight spaces and avoid surface-to-air missiles. Mission objectives are clear but demanding, often requiring careful fuel management and precise weapon selection. The pacing is tense; you're constantly monitoring radar, altitude, and ammunition while reacting to threats that escalate quickly. It feels like a high-stakes puzzle where every move counts, and pulling off a smooth vertical landing after a chaotic firefight is deeply satisfying.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
