Play Jungle Book on nes Online

Swing through the jungle as Mowgli, lobbing bananas at snakes and dodging monkeys—just don’t ask why there are cacti in the rainforest. The upgrades help, but those stiff NES controls still make some jumps feel like luck.

Game Overview

Jungle Book on NES is one of those classic side-scrollers where you play as Mowgli, swinging on vines and tossing bananas at snakes—because apparently, that’s how jungle survival works. The levels feel a bit like Pitfall, but with more questionable geography (why are there prickly pear cacti in an Indian rainforest?). You’ll hop around collecting gems, dodging monkeys, and hunting down some guy at the end of each stage to move forward.

At first, you’re stuck chucking single bananas, which feels a little underwhelming when a snake’s coming at you. But then you find upgrades like double banana shots or coconuts that actually pack a punch. There’s even an invincibility mask, which is great until it wears off and you immediately get hit by something stupid. The controls are stiff in that classic NES way, so expect a few cheap deaths from misjudged jumps. Still, there’s something oddly satisfying about boomerang-banana-ing a monkey off-screen.

It’s not the deepest game, but if you’re into retro platformers with weird enemy choices, it’s got its moments.
