Game Overview

Jungle Book came out in 1994 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Virgin Interactive Entertainment. It was one of many licensed platformers from that era, built for computers that were just starting to handle colorful, side-scrolling action with some degree of fluidity. The game adapted Disney's animated film into a straightforward adventure, typical of the mid-90s push to bring cartoon properties to home PCs.

You control Mowgli through a series of jungle levels, jumping across platforms, avoiding enemies like Kaa the snake and Shere Khan, and collecting gems and extra lives. Your main weapon is a supply of bananas that can be thrown at enemies; some stages also let you ride on Baloo's back for safer passage. The game is structured screen by screen, with a mix of climbing vines, dodging hazards, and minor exploration to find hidden items. The difficulty is noticeable, with precise jumps and enemy patterns that demand quick reactions. It feels like a compact, challenging adaptation that captures the setting even if the controls take some getting used to.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
