Game Overview

King Neptune’s Adventure is one of those NES games that makes you wonder how it slipped under the radar. You play as this diver—helmet, flippers, the whole deal—swimming through these weirdly beautiful underwater levels full of jellyfish that zap you, treasure chests that might be traps, and these goofy-looking sharks that move in unpredictable patterns. The controls take a second to get used to (why is "up" to swim higher?), but once it clicks, you’ll be weaving through coral reefs like a pro.

The music’s got that classic 8-bit charm—peppy, repetitive in the best way, and weirdly motivating when you’re trying to outrun an eel for the third time. And the bosses? They’re these giant pixelated sea monsters that fill half the screen, and beating them feels way more satisfying than it should. It’s not perfect—some of the later levels get brutal—but there’s something about the simplicity that just works. If you dig obscure retro platformers, this one’s a solid dive.
