King's Quest IV: The Perils of Rosella came out in 1988 from Sierra On-Line, one of those classic MS-DOS adventure games that really defined the era. It was a time when point-and-click was still emerging, and a lot of us were still typing commands like "open door" or "give flower" to get by. This one stood out because you played as Princess Rosella, not the usual King Graham, which felt like a nice shift at the time.

You guide Rosella through a fairy tale land full of danger and charm, solving puzzles and negotiating with characters like the wicked witch Lolotte or the generous fairy Genesta. The main goal is to find three magic items to save your father's life, all while managing a day and night cycle that affects what you can do and where you can go. You explore screen by screen, typing text commands to interact with the world, and one wrong move (or typed word) can lead to an abrupt, sometimes unfair, death. It moves at a deliberate pace, asking for patience and attention, and finishing it gives you this real sense of relief and accomplishment.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
