I picked up LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures for the Nintendo DS back in 2008, a Traveller's Tales game that fit right in with the portable scene of that era. It was a time when movie tie-ins and LEGO adaptations were finding a solid home on the handheld, and this one captured the spirit of the films without trying to be more than a fun, accessible adventure.

You control Indy and a rotating cast of allies, working through levels that retell the first three films. The main goal is to smash everything in sight for studs, solve simple environmental puzzles by building LEGO objects from scattered piles of bricks, and occasionally use character specific abilities, like Indy's whip to swing across gaps or Satipo's shovel to dig. The pacing is relaxed, the difficulty is low, and it feels like a playful, hands-on tour through familiar set pieces. It's a satisfyingly tactile experience, especially using the stylus for certain actions on the DS.
