Game Overview

Lethal Tender came out in 1997 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a re-release of an earlier American Laser Games title. It fits right into that era of straightforward, action-focused PC games that didn't rely on lengthy stories or complex graphics to pull you in. You get what you see: a top-down shooter where the stakes are immediate and the action rarely lets up.

You control a mercenary hired to recover stolen plutonium cores across a series of industrial and urban maps. Your main objective is to hunt down these cores while fending off rival mercenaries and security forces who shoot on sight. Movement is screen by screen, with each area presenting a new layout of obstacles and enemies to navigate. Combat is fast and unforgiving; a few hits will end your run, so quick reflexes and careful positioning are essential. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty ensures you retry stages often, but the immediate feedback of the crunchy sound effects and the constant threat of ambush keep you alert. It feels like a tense, high-risk race where every decision matters from the moment you start moving.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
