Game Overview

Load Runner (or Lode Runner, depending on who you ask) is one of those classic MS-DOS games that’s way more intense than it looks. You’re this little stick figure scrambling around brick platforms, grabbing gold while these relentless robots chase you. At first, it seems simple—just climb ladders, swing on bars, and dig holes to trap the bots. But then you realize the holes close up after a few seconds, and if you time it wrong, that robot you just trapped pops back up at the top of the screen, angrier than ever.

The levels start off easy, but by the time you hit the double digits, you’re sweating. Some are puzzle-like—figuring out the exact order to dig and run—while others are pure reflexes, dodging three robots at once. And yeah, you can fall from any height without dying, but if you dig yourself into a hole with no way out, you’re stuck. Game over, lose a life.

What really made it stand out back then was the level editor. People went nuts designing their own insane mazes, sharing them with friends. For 1983, that was mind-blowing. Even now, there’s something satisfying about outsmarting those robots, one hole at a time.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
