Game Overview

I picked up The Lost Vikings, Disk 2 for the Amiga back in 1993, a release from Silicon & Synapse, who later became Blizzard. It was a time when the Amiga was still a strong platform for creative, thoughtful games that didn't rely on pure speed or spectacle. This one stood out for its clever design and cooperative single-player premise.

You control three Vikings, each with unique skills: Erik jumps and bashes through walls, Baleog fights with a sword and bow, and Olaf uses his shield to block attacks and create platforms. The goal is to guide all three to the exit in each level, switching between them to overcome environmental puzzles and enemy obstacles. It's a methodical, screen-by-screen exploration game where careful timing and character coordination are essential. The pacing is deliberate, and some puzzles demand real patience, but pulling off a complex sequence with all three Vikings feels deeply satisfying.
