Game Overview

I first played The Lost Vikings on the Amiga back in 1993, a time when the platform was full of inventive games that really pushed what you could do with a mouse and a keyboard. It was developed by Silicon & Synapse, who later became Blizzard, and it stood out because it wasn't trying to be another shoot 'em up or arcade port. Instead, it offered something slower, more thoughtful, a real brain teaser wrapped in colorful, detailed graphics.

You control three Vikings, each with a specific skill: Erik can run and jump, Baleog attacks enemies with his sword and bow, and Olaf uses his shield to block attacks or create platforms. The goal is to guide all three to the exit in each level, switching between them to overcome obstacles and enemies. The puzzles require careful coordination, like having Olaf hold his shield up so Erik can jump to a higher ledge, or using Baleog to clear a path of foes. It's methodical, sometimes frustrating, but solving a tricky section feels genuinely satisfying. Playing it is like working through a clever, interactive logic problem with a charming sense of humor.
