I picked up M&M's: Minis Madness on Game Boy Color back in 2000, a time when licensed games were everywhere and you never quite knew what you were getting. It was developed by Digital Eclipse, who handled a lot of ports and original titles for handhelds, and it fit right into that era of colorful, quirky platformers aimed at younger players. The game didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it had its own oddball personality.

You control a team of M&M's characters, switching between them to use their unique abilities; Red fires a slingshot to hit switches, Blue can freeze enemies and objects, and others offer different tools for specific puzzles. The main goal is to rescue Mini M&M's across various factory-themed levels, which involves a lot of careful platforming, enemy avoidance, and environmental interaction. You explore screen by screen, often backtracking once you have the right character or ability to progress. The pacing is methodical, with some tricky jumps and timing-based challenges that keep you alert. It feels like a light puzzle-platformer with just enough variety to hold your interest.
