Vanguard Ace: Vertical Madness came out as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though I don't recall the developer offhand. It was one of those straightforward shooters from the era, the kind you'd load up after school when you just wanted something fast and loud. It didn't try to be anything more than a solid, challenging arcade-style experience, and it fit right in with the other action titles of the time.
