Game Overview

Mario Party (J) is that classic N64 chaos where you’ll scream at your friends over stolen stars and rigged dice rolls. You pick a character—I always go for Yoshi, no regrets—and then it’s a mad dash around colorful boards, landing on spaces that either bless you with coins or ruin your life with a Bowser bomb. The mini-games are the real stars though: some are pure luck, others test your reflexes (good luck with that rotating control stick one), and a few are just weird in the best way.

It’s technically a board game, but it feels more like a friendship endurance test. You’ll laugh, you’ll rage, and someone will absolutely get screwed over by a last-minute star steal. If you’ve got three other people and a tolerance for nonsense, this is still one of the best ways to turn a chill night into a competitive mess.
