Game Overview

Master of Orion II is one of those classic 4X space games that still holds up today. You start by picking a race—I always go for the Psilons because their research bonuses are ridiculous—and then it’s all about expanding your empire, researching wild tech trees, and occasionally getting into massive fleet battles where you watch tiny pixel ships blast each other apart.

The diplomacy system is surprisingly deep for a '90s game, with races actually remembering if you backstab them (looking at you, Mrrshan). And the tactical combat? Way more fun than it has any right to be, especially when you unlock planet killers and start wiping out entire systems just because you can.

There’s still an active modding scene tweaking balance and fixing old bugs, which says something about how much people still love this thing. If you’re into slow-burn strategy where one wrong move can leave you scrambling, this is worth dusting off.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
