Play Master of Orion Online
You start with a single planet and a handful of ships, then suddenly you're knee-deep in colony management, weighing research paths, and eyeing that heavily guarded Orion system like a prize worth fighting for.

Master of Orion came out in 1993 for MS-DOS, developed by Simtex and published by MicroProse. It was one of those deep space strategy games that felt right at home on a PC, sitting alongside contemporaries like Civilization but trading historical empires for interstellar ones. You didn't need flashy graphics; the depth was in the systems, the decisions, the slow burn of building something that could last.
You control a fledgling empire, starting with one planet and a scout ship. Your goal is to dominate the galaxy through conquest, diplomacy, or technological supremacy. Key mechanics include exploring star systems screen by screen, colonizing habitable worlds, and designing ships from the hull up, choosing engines, weapons, and defenses to counter whatever the aliens throw at you. The pacing is deliberate, sometimes slow, with difficulty that escalates as rival empires expand and ancient guardians patrol valuable systems. It feels like a chess match played over lightyears, where every move matters and the quiet turns are just as tense as the big battles.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
