The game plays out through tightly designed side-scrolling stages where you run, jump, and slash through mechanized enemies with a beam saber; you can also use a buster shot for ranged attacks, and find cyber-elves that provide permanent upgrades or temporary support. The pacing is intense, and the difficulty is famously steep, demanding precise movement and quick reactions to enemy patterns. It feels sharp and responsive, with every dash and slash carrying a sense of consequence and momentum.
