MegaMan ZX Advent on the DS is one of those games that makes you forget you're holding a tiny handheld. You start off choosing between two characters—Grey or Ashe—and immediately get thrown into some slick side-scrolling action. The controls feel tight, and the transformations (called "Biometals") give you these wild abilities, like turning into a speedster or a tanky bruiser mid-fight.

What I love is how it keeps the classic MegaMan challenge but mixes in Metroidvania-style exploration. You’ll backtrack through zones with new powers to unlock hidden areas, and the boss fights? They’ll wreck you at first, but nailing their patterns feels so good. The pixel art holds up, too—those chunky, detailed sprites make the DS screen pop. Just don’t expect the story to blow your mind; it’s mostly there to glue the action together.

If you’ve ever wanted a MegaMan game with more freedom to roam, this one’s a solid pick. The soundtrack’s got that classic rock-meets-synth vibe, and some of the late-game bosses will have you sweating. It’s a shame more people don’t talk about this one.
