MegaMan ZX Advent came out on the Nintendo DS in 2007, developed by Inti Creates. It was part of that wave of DS games that really tried to use both screens in interesting ways, not just for menus or maps. You control either Grey or Ashe, a human who can absorb the biometric data of powerful robotic enemies called Pseudoroids to take on their forms and weapons. The main goal is to explore a fractured world, moving screen by screen through industrial zones and ruined cities, to stop a looming threat. The key mechanic is the A-Trans system, letting you copy boss abilities on the fly during combat; you might start a fight with a sword, then mid-dodge steal your enemy's form and retaliate with a flamethrower or drill arms. The pacing is fast, with tight platforming and combat that demands quick reflexes, though it can be punishing if you're not careful. It feels like a constant, fluid exchange of power between you and your enemies.
