Mine Bombers came out in 1996 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Skitso Productions. It was one of those shareware titles you'd find on a disk full of demos, a straightforward arcade-style game that fit right in with the era's appetite for quick, challenging action. It didn't try to be an epic; it was just a game about bombs and timing and not blowing yourself up.
You control a little character, moving screen by screen through maze-like levels filled with monsters and destructible walls. Your only tool is bombs, which you plant to clear paths or eliminate enemies. The challenge comes from the fuse timer; you have to place a bomb and then quickly move to a safe spot before it detonates, often while being chased. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty spikes quickly, demanding precise placement and quick reflexes. It feels tense and frantic, a constant race against your own explosions.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
