Game Overview

Money Bags Beat the Gnome of Zurich was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though I don't recall the developer's name offhand. It was one of those clever little platformers from the era, built for quick sessions and pixel-perfect jumps. You don't see many games about outsmarting a greedy gnome banker, but this one made it work with simple, effective visuals and a catchy premise.

You control a character trying to reclaim stolen money from the Gnome of Zurich, navigating single-screen levels filled with coins, traps, and moving platforms. Your main goal is to collect all the coins in a stage while avoiding hazards like falling anvils or electrified floors; once you have the cash, you must reach the exit. The gnome himself patrols the level, and you can sometimes trick him into triggering his own traps, which is deeply satisfying. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty ramps up noticeably in later stages, demanding precise timing and route planning. It feels like a tense game of cat and mouse where you're both the hunter and the prey.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
