Game Overview

Ever wanted to mash up monsters like some kind of 8-bit Dr. Frankenstein? Monster Maker - 7 Tsu no Hihou is this weird little NES game where you slap together creature parts and see what unholy abomination comes out. I still remember my first attempt—some messed-up bird-lizard thing that kept losing fights because I gave it the wrong tail.

It’s got that classic RPG grind, but the real fun is in the lab. You’ll spend half your time crossbreeding slimes and dragons, the other half hunting for treasures while your newest creation flails around in battle. The sprites are gloriously janky, and half the combinations make zero sense (why does adding wings to a rock monster work?).

If you’re into retro games that don’t take themselves seriously, this one’s a time capsule of pure, chaotic charm. Just don’t blame me when your three-headed frog gets wrecked by a boss.
