Play Monuments of Mars Online
You bounce around Mars as an astronaut, blasting switches and hunting hidden letters while the planet tries to kill you in weirdly charming ways. The controls take some getting used to, but nailing those awkward jumps feels great.

Monuments of Mars came out in 1991 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, published by Apogee Software. It was a side-scrolling platformer from an era when shareware titles often delivered surprising depth and challenge, even with simple graphics and straightforward concepts.
You control an astronaut exploring ancient Martian ruins, navigating screen by screen while avoiding environmental hazards and hostile aliens. The main goal is to activate switches to open doors and progress, all while hunting for hidden letters that spell "APOGEE" to unlock bonus stages. The game requires careful jumps and precise timing, with a difficulty that escalates quickly as traps and enemies become more frequent. It feels tense and deliberate, rewarding patience and observation over speed.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
