Game Overview
Mortal Kombat II Disk 3 for the Amiga arrived in 1993, published by Acclaim Entertainment. It was one of the many ports of the arcade hit, bringing the bloody, digitized fighter home to a platform known more for its productivity and strategy titles than its brawlers. The Amiga version had to make some compromises, but it still delivered the core experience players craved.
You choose from a roster of fighters, each with their own special moves, and face off against opponents in one-on-one combat. The main goal is to defeat your adversary in a best-of-three rounds match, either against the computer or a friend in two-player mode. Signature mechanics include performing special moves, like Scorpion's spear or Sub-Zero's ice blast, and, of course, the infamous fatalities to finish off a defeated foe. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the higher difficulty levels provide a serious challenge, especially during the boss fights against characters like Kintaro and Shao Kahn. It feels responsive and direct, a solid translation of the arcade action that holds up well on the system.
