Game Overview
Mortal Kombat II on the Amiga—yeah, the Disk 4 version—was one of those games that felt like a big deal back in the day. The pixelated blood, the exaggerated fatalities, the way your friends would crowd around the screen just to see Sub-Zero rip someone’s spine out. It wasn’t as smooth as the arcade version, but the fact it even ran on an Amiga was kind of amazing.
You’d pop in the disk, wait for that loading screen (forever, it felt like), and then suddenly you’re picking between Scorpion’s spear or Liu Kang’s bicycle kicks. The controls took some getting used to—button mashing was basically mandatory—but pulling off a fatality after a close match? Pure satisfaction.
It’s janky by today’s standards, but there’s still something weirdly charming about it.
