Mugen no Frontier: Super Robot Taisen OG Saga came out on the Nintendo DS in 2008, developed by Banpresto. It was part of that wave of DS games that really tried to push what the hardware could do visually, especially with its detailed sprite work and flashy combat animations. It never got an official English release, which is a shame, but it found its audience among import players and fans of the Super Robot Wars series.

You control a party of characters, piloting mechs through a mix of overhead exploration and turn based combat on a grid. Your main goal is to progress through the story, battling enemy units and occasionally navigating simple dungeon like areas. The combat revolves around executing combos by hitting button prompts in sequence; timing these correctly boosts your damage and can lead to screen filling special attacks. The pacing is fairly brisk, though some boss fights demand careful strategy and resource management. It feels satisfying to pull off a long chain of attacks and watch the enemy health bar vanish.
