Play Nettou The King of Fighters '95 (Japan) Online

Chunky Game Boy sprites throw fireballs and pull off supers just like the arcade—somehow. Still feels good to outplay Rugal with pixel-perfect timing on a tiny screen.

Game Overview

Nettou The King of Fighters '95 on Game Boy is one of those "how did they fit all this in?" ports. You’ve got Kyo’s fireballs, Iori’s edgy slashes, and Terry’s Power Geysers—somehow crammed into a tiny cartridge without losing the feel of the arcade original. The sprites are chunky, sure, but the moves actually work, which is kind of a miracle for a Game Boy fighter.

What’s wild is that it keeps the team battles intact. Picking your trio of fighters still feels like a mini-strategy game, and yeah, Rugal’s here to wreck you just like he did in the arcades. It’s not pretty by today’s standards, but there’s something satisfying about landing a last-second super move while waiting for the bus. Your thumbs might hate you afterward, though.
