Game Overview
New Super Mario Bros. on the DS is basically the classic Mario experience, but with just enough new tricks to feel fresh. You’re still jumping on Goombas, grabbing mushrooms, and chasing Bowser through those perfectly chaotic side-scrolling levels—only now, the little screen somehow makes everything feel even more frantic. The controls are tight, the power-ups are fun (giant Mario never gets old), and some of the later levels will absolutely test your patience in the best way.
What surprised me was how good it looks for a DS game. The sprites pop, the colors are bright, and the animations—like Mario’s little spin move—add this weirdly satisfying polish. It’s not a huge reinvention, but it doesn’t need to be. If you’ve ever yelled at an Italian plumber for missing a jump, this one’s worth your time.
