You control the standard chess pieces, moving them on a grid using keyboard commands or a mouse if your system supported it. The main objective is to checkmate your opponent's king, just like in a real game of chess. Signature mechanics include the ability to set difficulty levels, take back moves to analyze mistakes, and save games in progress. Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
