Play PCCHESS Online
Blocky ASCII pieces, that nostalgic *blip* sound—just pure chess with zero fluff. The AI won’t go easy if you leave your king hanging.

Game Overview
PCCHESS is that old-school MS-DOS chess game you probably remember if you grew up with a beige box computer. No fancy animations, no tutorials—just you and a grid of blocky pieces staring each other down. The AI isn’t exactly Kasparov, but it’ll punish lazy moves, especially if you forget to castle early.
I love how unapologetically simple it is. The board looks like it was drawn in ASCII art, and moving a pawn makes this satisfying little *blip* sound. It’s the kind of game you’d alt-tab to between homework assignments, or play when you just want to think without distractions. Modern chess apps feel bloated compared to this.
If you miss when games didn’t need 50 GB of storage or a login screen, PCCHESS is like digging up a time capsule. Just don’t blame me when you lose to the computer’s sneaky bishop fork.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
