Play Battle Chess II: Chinese Chess Online
Battle Chess II swaps knights for horses and adds cannons that jump over pieces—just when you think you've got it, your general gets wrecked by some rule you didn't see coming. The animations are still hilarious though, like watching elephants body-slam each other mid-game.

Remember Battle Chess, where pieces actually fought when they captured each other? Battle Chess II does the same thing, but with Chinese Chess (Xiangqi) instead. At first glance, the board looks totally different—there’s a river splitting it, and pieces like Cannons and Advisors move in ways that’ll mess with your head if you’re used to Western chess.
The animations are still the best part. Watching a Horse trample a Chariot or two Elephants clashing never gets old. But don’t let the flashy fights fool you—Xiangqi’s rules are brutal, especially with the Cannon’s sneaky jumping attacks. Took me three games just to stop losing my General to random ambushes.
If you’ve ever wondered how chess would play with entirely different pieces and tactics, this is a wild (and slightly frustrating) way to find out. Just be ready to relearn everything.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
