Play Chess Online
Move your pieces, strategize your moves, and outsmart your opponent in this classic game of Chess on MS-DOS.
I remember playing the MS-DOS version of Chess, one of the classic games bundled with early PC setups. It was developed by Microsoft and often came included with the operating system, a simple but effective digital adaptation of the board game. In an era when many games were text-based or relied on basic graphics, this one felt accessible and straightforward, a quiet way to spend an afternoon when other titles demanded more attention or hardware.
You control all the pieces on your side, taking turns with the computer opponent to capture the king. The game uses standard chess rules; you click to select a piece and then click again to place it, with the program enforcing legal moves. The AI offers several difficulty levels, from beginner to expert, and it doesnโt pull punches at higher settings. Playing feels focused and tense, especially when you realize one wrong move can unravel twenty minutes of careful positioning.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
