Play Battle Chess Online
Your chess pieces come alive—pawns get crushed by boulder-fists, knights lose limbs in sword fights, and the king pulls an Indiana Jones move on bishops. Play serious chess or just watch the ridiculous carnage unfold.

Game Overview
Battle Chess is one of those weird, brilliant MS-DOS classics where chess pieces actually fight when they capture each other. Your rook doesn’t just take a pawn—it morphs into this hulking rock monster and crushes the poor thing’s skull. The animations are full of little jokes, too. Knights duel like the Black Knight from Monty Python, limbs flying everywhere, and the king vs. bishop fight is a straight-up Indiana Jones sword gag.
You can play it straight with 2D mode if you just want chess, but honestly, the ridiculous battles are half the fun. The AI’s decent (it knows like 30,000 opening moves), and you can play against a friend if you’ve got a null modem cable or LAN setup. Also, the sound effects are surprisingly good for PC speaker audio—clangs and screams that somehow don’t sound completely terrible. The Amiga version even has this over-the-top narrated intro explaining how pieces move, which is hilarious if you’ve ever seen chess before.
It’s chess, but with way more personality than it has any right to have.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
