Battle Chess II: Chinese Chess is like the original Battle Chess, but with a whole new flavor. Instead of queens and bishops, you’ve got counsellors, cannons, and ministers—each moving in ways that’ll throw you off if you’re used to standard chess. The board’s different too, with a river splitting the middle and pieces starting in unexpected places.
But the best part? The fights. Just like in the first game, when two pieces clash, they come to life in these little animated duels—a cannon blasting a soldier or two elephants ramming into each other. It’s a weirdly satisfying distraction when you’re trying to outmaneuver your opponent. Took me a few games to stop losing my cannons carelessly, but once it clicks, it’s a blast.
