Play Battle Chess 4000 Online

Battle Chess 4000 turns chess into a ridiculous sci-fi brawl—every capture triggers a goofy claymation fight where rooks transform into laser cannons and pawns throw hands. The AI actually learns your moves, so you can’t just cheese your way through.

Game Overview

Battle Chess 4000 is chess, but with a sci-fi makeover and way more drama. Instead of just moving pieces, you get these ridiculous claymation fights every time a pawn takes a bishop or whatever. Watching a rook transform into a little robot and blast a knight never gets old.

The AI isn’t half bad—it picks up on your habits after a few games, so you can’t just spam the same openings. And yeah, there’s a classic 2D mode if you’re a purist, but let’s be honest, you’re here for the absurd animations. It’s not exactly tournament-level chess, but that’s the point. You’ll lose a queen to a laser-eyed bishop and laugh instead of rage-quitting.

Originally an MS-DOS gem, it’s still one of the most entertaining ways to trick someone into playing chess with you. Just don’t blame me when you spend more time watching the fights than actually thinking ahead.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
